    The Master's Programme in Global Health focuses on the challenges that transcend national borders and has an impact on current as well as future generations.Global health integrates expertise and perspectives from the fields of public health, medicine, epidemiology, health economics, behavioural science, environmental sciences and anthropology, among others. It provides a new platform for research, education and information on health challenges faced by the world population.This one-year programme consists of three parts. The core part provides a common knowledge base. The advanced part contains courses addressing different specific areas of global health such as communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health. The final part is a research project submitted as a thesis, which can be carried out in Sweden or in a low or middle income country where Karolinska Institutet has an existing collaboration.

    Joint Master's Programme in Health Informatics ↗️

    The Master's Programme in Health Informatics is aimed at students who are interested in information technology and its application to the fields of medicine and health care. You will learn methods to make healthcare safer, more efficient and of higher quality through computer based information and knowledge management.Students may have their initial training in either the health sciences or computer science.The programme is given by Karolinska Institutet jointly with Stockholm University, and students receive a joint degree from both universities.IT implementation in healthcare requires people with a solid understanding of both the needs of the healthcare sector and the strengths and limitations of technology. A health informatician's unique interdisciplinary expertise makes him/her particularly suited to assume a coordinating and bridging role between these two areas. Many health informaticians work as project managers. Other common roles are CMIO (Chief Medical Information Officer) or CCIO (Chief Clinical Information Officer), IT managers, clinical informaticians, application experts, requirements analysts, system specialists, system developers, interaction designers, evaluators and researchers.
