Autumn is here! And I couldn’t be happier 🍃 I’m from Peru, and we don’t really have autumn there. We only have summer and winter, which of course is not as cold as in Sweden. My first autumn was here, and honestly, it felt magical ✨
Let me tell you why you shouldn’t miss this season if you come to Sweden, and why you don’t need to feel sad just because summer has ended.
🍁 Beauty Everywhere
For someone who had never experienced fall before, seeing the trees turn golden was like watching a fairytale unfold or like seeing a painting come to life 🎨 You might think you need to travel far to find this beauty, but you don’t!
In Lund, for example, I can find breathtaking views just on my way to the university. The streets are lined with golden, orange, red, and brown leaves, and it feels like walking through an open-air art gallery 🍂 Every corner looks like the perfect spot for photos (which I love, of course!). It makes me appreciate the change of seasons instead of missing summer.

☕ Cozy Vibes
Autumn in Sweden feels so cozy! It’s not too warm and not too cold, just perfect for layering up in comfy clothes. What could be better than putting on your favorite pajamas and staying cozy in bed on a rainy day? 🌧️
Even if there aren’t as many outdoor activities as in summer, there’s still plenty to enjoy. Fika with friends becomes even more special during this season. And something I absolutely love is how cafés start offering pumpkin-flavored drinks and desserts 🎃 In Peru, pumpkin isn’t a popular ingredient for sweets or drinks, so when one of my Swedish friends told me to try it, I was skeptical. But it completely changed my mind! Now I can’t wait to try all the pastries too.
You’ll also see pumpkins everywhere, in stores, markets, and even at pumpkin carving events around Halloween. Many local food markets have that warm, autumn vibe, sometimes even with a cozy fire where you can roast marshmallows or make popcorn. There’s always something comforting to do during this season!

🍂 Peace in the Quiet
As an introvert, I love the quietness that comes with autumn. Don’t get me wrong, summer in Sweden is amazing ☀️ But autumn feels different. It’s more peaceful and reflective.
Summer is about adventures, traveling, and being social. Autumn feels like a gentle pause, a time to slow down, appreciate what you’ve experienced, and think about what you want for the rest of the year. The days start getting shorter, the sunsets come earlier, and somehow it invites you to rest and reset 🌙
It’s also the perfect moment to enjoy slow activities with the people you love, like movie nights, warm dinners, or simply a chat over tea. I really like that feeling. Autumn reminds me that slowing down is not a bad thing, it’s beautiful in its own way.
