Out of light to the darkness. Now that the first snow has fallen into the late autumn damp ground, I think it is only fair to bring back the memories of sunshine for the sake of our my sanity. If it was not for the encouragement from my friends’ to embrace the Swedish lifestyle of being a sun worshipper, I would not take a six-kilometer walk in 2°C weather. What kept me going was the chokladbollar and kanelbullar that we made earlier that day. Sweden is heaven for a sweet tooth like me.
It is amusing how I always think that life is all about going towards the light from darkness, while in fact, it goes the other way around too. Silly me. For every good summer days, there will always be winter waiting at the corner of every year to make the day shorter and sunless. Enough with the gloom, now let’s warm our soul with some pictures taken by my friend and I, at the Ekoln lake, the southern part of Uppsala.
Tell me, how does the last drop of sunshine feels? Good isn’t it? Beware to not let these brilliant pictures trick you, it was cold! After spending two months here in Sweden, now I understand why many people from the northern hemisphere, when they come to Bali (my hometown), often sunbathe by the beach until their skin get burnt – because the sun does feel good. Sigh, now I miss the t-shirt weather. Moving back to Sweden, one advice that I still remember on how to deal with winter is to stay active. By active it can be hanging out with friends, doing cardio exercises, and other activities to not let the sweater weather hold your back. As the Swedes say, there is no bad weather, only bad clothing. Sure there will be less sun than before, but you will always have your friends to brighten up your days.
