Master of Science Programme in Computer Science

Programme duration: 2 years (120 ECTS credits)

University: Blekinge Institute of Technology

Programme website: Master of Science Programme in Computer Science

More

Today, computer science is an enormously vibrant field, including topics such as programming languages, algorithms and complexity, data structures, intelligent systems, distributed systems, and network technologies. During its fifty years of existence, computer science has become a defining technology of our age. Computers are integral to many parts of our society and, moreover, the field continues to evolve at an astonishing pace. New technologies are introduced continually, and existing ones become obsolete. Our master program in Computer Science offers a number of advanced courses, e.g., with emphasis on information security, information systems, and intelligent systems. The courses focus on aspects close to the research front in computer science. The master program ends with a master thesis, which usually is based on current research and scientific articles. After obtaining your master degree you are well prepared for a work in industry as well as a research career at the university.

Master of Science Programme in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on Structural Mechanics

Programme duration: 2 years (120 ECTS credits)

University: Blekinge Institute of Technology

Programme website: Master of Science Programme in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on Structural Mechanics

More

Prediction, description and assessment of characteristics of structures and components in machine design are becoming increasingly important to support decision making in product development. Being able to making well-informed decisions at an early stage of the product development process as well as finally finding an optimal design is critical to competitiveness. The purpose of this programme is to prepare for participation in advanced product development or research in mechanical engineering. The goal is that the graduates will master a coordinated approach to analysis support for product development, including virtual and physical modelling, simulation/experimentation, and optimisation, see below. They should also be able to keep up with and contribute to new research findings and communicate scientific data and relationships ? orally and in writing ? using modern animation and visualisation equipment.

Master of Science Programme in Software Engineering

Programme duration: 2 years (120 ECTS credits)

University: Blekinge Institute of Technology

Programme website: Master of Science Programme in Software Engineering

More

Many products today contain software, even in areas and applications where it is not visible at a first glance. Even domains that have historically been hardware domains are now shifting towards software-intensive products. There is thus an increasing need for professional software engineers. A professional software engineer is able to develop software according to a certain specification, with a specific quality, on time, and on budget. This need is recognised by the Master?s Program in Software Engineering at Blekinge Institute of Technology, one of the oldest and well renown master?s educations in software engineering in Sweden. Accordingly, we focus our education on teaching professionalism and realism. Professionalism means that we teach an engineering approach to difficult subjects such as project management, quality management, requirements engineering, and verification and validation, but also in more technically oriented courses such as systems engineering, software architectures, and software product lines. Realism means that we train our students for a reality dealing with large scale market-driven software development, where things are not always done by the book.We put high demands on our students, and expect of them to be able to relate their own experiences to state-of-the-art research and literature, as well as current industry practice. We mix lectures where students are expected to be active with seminars, assignments, industry case studies, and a critical review of each others work. The teaching staff consists of active researchers and industry practitioners, which ensures the goals of professionalism and realism, but also that of relevance.
